I forgot to pack sunscreen and was too "cheap" to pay the higher-than-normal hotel price for a tube of it. Due to being sunburned from the previous day, I encouraged hubba hubba to go with me to the fitness spa on property for a little workout.
Afterwards, we took the shuttle to the Makena Clubhouse which belongs to the hotel but located off-property at the golf course. This, too, was another great experience. It was very peaceful and we had a view of both the course and the ocean.
I forgot my camera in the room, so this photo is from buzzhawaii.com
The hill on the left is called Pu'u Ola'i (Earthquake Hill). It divides Makena Beach into "Big Beach" and "Little Beach" (famous for its clothing optional dress code).
After a light lunch of sandwiches and reflection, we walked back to the hotel along the golf cart path instead of catching the shuttle.
For dinner, we went to Mulligan's on the Blue which is an Irish restaurant and pub in Wailea. Tonight, the featured entertainment was Willie K. If you are ever in Hawaii, seeing a live performance of Willie K is an absolute must! His crazy mad strumming (for a lack of a better word) skills will absolutely blow you away! And while he may not look it, the man has the voice of an angel. I am not catholic but after his rendition of "Ave Maria" the floodgates of heaven poured down my face. Who needs the Metropolitan Opera when we've got Willie K right here in our own backyard?
